REAL KITE WORKSHOPS 'POST' COVID
REAL IN SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
Infinite Arts can continue to deliver online workshops but increasingly will be able to return to working in schools. Advance preparation can be done via a virtual platform or by regular communication.
Workshop activities will respect social distancing and use relevant PPE precautions in agreement with the school or venue in order to undertake a kite-making session in school. All the necessary materials will be supplied by Infinite Arts and dispersed on the day to pupils, or can be supplied in separate bags for each pupil if required.
The session starts with an introduction by the kite maker ( Pauline Taylor) and hopefully the pupils will have time to introduce themselves too. We then go on to run an instructed session where the kite maker will demonstrate each step of the instructions. Pupils will be able to ask questions as we go along and the kite maker will be able to respond directly to their particular query.
This project generally takes a couple of hours from start to finish and can easily be done within a morning session or an afternoon. The group usually take a break for playtime as required and come back to work afterwards, finishing with a chance to fly and test the kites at the end of the morning or afternoon.
Each child ends up with a kite of their own which will actually fly.
Materials supplied will include - for each child
1 x instruction sheet
1 x ready cut diamond kite shape
2 x bamboo sticks
4 x strips of plastic for tails
1 x small piece of card with hole punched in
1 x length of yarn (like wool)
2 x small pieces of sticky backed plastic to decorate the kite
1 x sticky tape / sellotape on a dispenser ( shared) Infinite arts will provide sellotape dispensers to share one between 2 pupils .
Each child will need a pair of scissors
The cost for a half day Kite Making REAL Visit to school would be around £300 plus travel and materials - both of these costs will vary depending on distance and numbers. A full day workshop starts at £400 plus travel and materials.
Please get in touch if you have any queries, want to discuss options or would like to make a booking.
An alternative method can utilise a pre-made video of the kite-making process which will allow the teacher to pause the instructions as required during the day. - see Virtual Workshops
